Valentine's Getaway - Western Maryland

Day 1

With a stop for lunch enroute, we'll arrive in Cumberland by the afternoon. After checking-in to our hotel accommodations, we'll meet our guide and visit the Evergreen Heritage Center for a guided tour of the farmhouse museum that has been owned by the same family for over 150 years. The latest descendent has created an award-winning museum, educational facility, habitat sanctuary, and environmental laboratory on its grounds, representing Western Maryland in microcosm. This evening, we will enjoy an included dinner and show at the historic and scenic Town Hill Bed & Breakfast. During the show "Romance on Broadway" we'll hear love songs from favorite Broadway shows, answer Broadway trivia questions, and try to stump the performer with a song she doesn't know!

Day 2

Breakfast this morning will be available at the hotel, but you may want to eat light. We'll meet our guide and board the Western Maryland Scenic Railroad for a scenic train ride, during which we'll enjoy a catered brunch. Afterwards we'll visit one of the oldest synagogues in Maryland, B'er Chayim Temple, where we'll tour the sanctuary and enjoy some unique and delicious home-baked Jewish holiday treats. Later this afternoon we'll tour the Gordon-Roberts House a historic 1867 Victorian mansion that hosts living-history programs featuring an interpreter portraying Eleanor Roosevelt. This is the perfect venue to meet "Eleanor Roosevelt" and learn about her life story. Dinner this evening will be included at a local restaurant.

Day 3

This morning, after breakfast, we'll meet our guide and head to the Embassy Theatre, a 1931 Art Deco style movie theatre where we'll meet the legendary "Judy Garland". She'll tell us stories of her life, her loves, her movies, and sing some of her most iconic love songs! Afterwards we'll tour Ridge Dale Farm, an elegant brick mansion built by George William Washington, cousin of the president, and once used as a hospital during the Civil War Battle of Kelley's Island. We will then depart for home. With a stop for lunch enroute, arrival home will be later this evening.

Please be sure to verify your final seat number(s) with your driver at the time of boarding. Historically, daily seat rotation was practiced on most multi-day tours. We have suspended this practice for a period of time. Seat rotation will be explained by your driver or tour escort if reinstated.
