Day 1

This morning we will depart to the Historic Hudson Valley for lunch on your own in Sleepy Hollow, followed by a walking tour of Philipsburg Manor. A colonial-era farming, milling, and trading center, today's villages of Sleepy Hollow and Tarrytown are descendants of Philipsburg Manor. It has been restored to its appearance in 1750 when it was home to two dozen African slaves and several hundred tenant farmers. Next, we check-in to the Sheraton Hotel in Tarrytown, with time to freshen up before having dinner at a local restaurant. Afterward, we will depart for Sunnyside, the home of Washington Irving, for Irving's "Legend". Master Storyteller recounts The Legend of Sleepy Hollow accompanied by live, spooky organ music. From here we will head to The Great Jack O'Lantern Blaze at Van Cortlandt Manor. This event features more than 7,000 individually hand-carved, illuminated pumpkins! Meander through a riverside landscape and discover a display of snakes, a giant spider web, an undersea aquarium, super-sized dinosaurs, and even a colossal Stonehenge all made of pumpkins. Arrival back at the hotel is scheduled for late this evening.

Day 2

After breakfast we'll check-out of our hotel and depart for a tour of Kykuit, the Rockefeller Estate. The house, art galleries, sculpture collection, and the Coach Barn will all be included in the tour of this historic site. Afterward, we will enjoy a guided Knickerbocker tour of the Sleepy Hollow Cemetery. Here we will trace the footsteps of Washington Irving's most famous character, Ichabod Crane, in "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow" as we walk to the author's final resting place. Learn more about the talented Mr. Irving and his influence on popular culture today. We will also enter the cemetery's 114-year-old receiving vault, stop at a Revolutionary War monument, see the Old Dutch Church, and admire the cemetery's art. Following time for lunch on your own at a local restaurant, we will visit Sunnyside, the home of Washington Irving, author of The Headless Horseman. Our arrival home will be early evening.
