Depart with Perkiomen Tours on this 4-day Holiday Getaway to Ring in the New Year at the Founder's Inn & Spa in Virginia Beach, Virginia. With stops for rest and lunch enroute, we will arrive at the Inn later this afternoon. After cookies and cocoa welcome, we will check-in and prepare for a weekend of fun. We begin with a stop at the Christmas Mouse, a local holiday ornament shop. Dinner will be included at a local seafood restaurant, then we will finish the day with a ride through the holiday Lights at the Beach, featuring a nautical-themed light display set along the beautiful boardwalk. Don't miss an appearance by Surfing Santa!D
Following breakfast at the hotel, we will board the motorcoach with our tour guide and embark on a Virginia Beach Riding Tour as you learn about the history of Virginia's largest city and get the pulse on current day in Virginia Beach. We will stop at the Old Cape Henry Lighthouse, a National Historic Landmark that has guarded the mouth of the bay since 1792 (climb on own for a small fee). Then visit the Thoroughgood House for a glimpse at the life of a prominent local family in the early 18th Century. Next, it's time for lunch and shopping on your own at Virginia Beach Town Center, home to dozens of retailers and eateries, including local boutiques and national chains. We will stop for a tasting of the sweet treats at The Royal Chocolate. Then, continue to nearby Norfolk for a visit to Nauticus, a nautical museum, where you will learn about the power of the sea and the maritime environment through interactive exhibits. Visit the museum and then enjoy a self-guided tour of the Battleship Wisconsin-the largest battleship that served in WWII, the Korean War, and the Persian Gulf War. Dinner will take place at Freemason Abbey, a renovated 19th Century church with a tavern-style atmosphere. After dinner, we will return to the battleship for WinterFest on the Wisconsin to see the ship decked out in lights and filled with fun experiences for all. Stop at the Taiwanese Pagoda to see a few more twinkling lights before returning to the hotel.
After breakfast at the hotel, we will join our tour guide for a visit to one of Virginia Beach's most prized attractions, the Military Aviation Museum. Enjoy a guided tour of one of the largest private collections of World War II and Korean War era aircraft in the world. Most of the planes are still flight-worthy and are restored to their original condition. Lunch will be served while at the museum. Then, break out your inner artist for a guided paint session, where you'll create a winter scene to bring home. Then, it's back to the Inn for a brief rest as you prepare to dance the night away at a New Year's Eve Party to remember! Your hotel will play host to the evening celebration, where you'll begin with a delicious dinner and drink tickets. A live band will entertain as you count down to the New Year, complete with a champagne toast to ring in 2023.
This morning, the party continues with the New Year's Day Champagne Brunch to celebrate time well spent welcoming the New Year in Coastal Virginia. After our brunch we will check-out and depart for home. Arrival home is scheduled for early evening.BR
