Day 1

Today we depart for Staunton, VA. Enroute we will stop in New Freedom, PA where we will enjoy a train ride though the scenic countryside of southern York County aboard one of the Northern Central Railway locomotives. We will take a ride on the same rails that helped save and build our nation, this excursion railroad provides the opportunity to travel through time. Following our train ride we will have lunch on own enroute to Staunton, VA, the location of our lodging for the next 3 nights. Dinner will be included at a local restaurant.

Day 2

After breakfast, we will honor all the railroaders who built the railroads that allowed our nation to grow. While at C & O Railroad Heritage Center Museum we will be guided through the museum and visitor center as our guide shares stories of how our nation grew, how we lived and worked, and how we were all connected by twin rails of steel. Lunch will be on your own today. This afternoon, we will ride through the Shenandoah Valley, VA aboard one of Virginia Scenic Railway locomotives. Dinner will be included on the train.

Day 3

Following breakfast, we will depart for the O. Winston Link Museum. During our guided tour we will view the photographic and auditory works of photographer O. Winston Link including the carefully arranged images designed to display the end of the steam-propelled Norfolk & Western Railway. Lunch will be included today at a local restaurant, followed by a self-guided visit to the Virginia Museum of Transportation. Discover the rich history of transportation by exploring the many ways transportation has shaped the state's history and economy. Dinner will be on your own in downtown Staunton, VA tonight.

Day 4

After breakfast, we will depart for Gettysburg, PA. Stops for lunch and rest will be made enroute. Upon arrival, we will visit the Lincoln Train Museum. Built in 1969 and recreated in 2013 by the late retired Sheriff James F. Kralik, this museum depicts a patriot's love of America and those who shaped and created the American story. Explore at your own pace the many collections including the World Wars, the Civil War, American sports, the railroad history, and much more. Our arrival home is scheduled for early evening.

Motorcoach seating is assigned at the time of reservation but cannot be guaranteed. Although we do our best to keep each traveler in the seat assigned at the time of reservation, there are times that it is necessary to move seat locations. Please be sure to verify your final seat number(s) with your driver at the time of boarding. Historically, daily seat rotation was practiced
on most multi-day tours. We have suspended this practice for a period of time. Seat rotation will be explained by your driver or tour escort if reinstated.
