Pennsylvania Grand Canyon

Often referred to as the Grand Canyon of Pennsylvania and the Pine Creek Gorge, the PA Canyon area stretches for over 45 miles with depths of nearly 1500 feet. Its dynamic topography creates many scenic wonders, including steep canyon walls and waterfalls. Day 1

With an early morning departure, we will arrive in Williamsport for a Susquehanna River Cruise aboard the Hiawatha Riverboat. Lunch will be on your own in Williamsport before departing for Wellsboro. We will have free time in downtown Wellsboro before a guided covered wagon ride into the PA Grand Canyon. Our guide will entertain us with local history and point out wildlife while we view the beautiful fall foliage. Dinner will be included at the Historic Penn Wells Hotel before checking-in to the Penn Wells Lodge. From here, the rest of the evening is yours to relax or watch a movie on your own at the local circa-1920's Arcadia Theatre.

Please dress appropriately for the season; we suggest layers. Wagon rides are approximately 2 hours long and are held rain or shine. One or two wagons may be used based on group size. The wagon ride site is not able to accommodate wheelchairs or walkers on the wagon.

Day 2

After breakfast at Penn Wells Lodge, we will go to Arcadia Theatre to privately view a brief documentary on Wellsboro history, including the Historic Penn Wells Hotel as well as Wellsboro Glass and Christmas Ornament history. From there we will depart with our guide for the PA Grand Canyon Overlook and Visitor Center. Here we will have great views of this natural wonder and view a video at the Visitor Center. We will then travel to Corning, NY for lunch, shopping, and a self-guided tour of the Corning Museum of Glass. The Contemporary Glass Gallery offers one of the best collections of contemporary glass art. The Glass Collection Galleries feature the most comprehensive collection of glass artifacts anywhere, from the glass head of an Egyptian pharaoh to masterpieces by Tiffany and Chihuly. The Hot Glass Show is the world's premier live, narrated glassblowing demonstration, set in a special theatre with live overhead monitors. Arrival home will be early this evening.
