While at the village, see the Casselman River Bridge, constructed in 1813, it was the largest stone arch bridge in America. We will then check-in to our lodging in Elkins, WV for the next two nights. Enjoy the beautiful river and mountain views from the authentic 1920s era coaches on this two hour excursion through the Monongahela National Forest. We will then visit Historic Beverly, which includes Beverly Heritage Center, an interpretive center with "The 1st Campaign of the Civil War" exhibit. After breakfast we will head to Philippi, WV to see the Philippi Covered Bridge, the site of the first land battle of the Civil War and will take a walk across this piece of U.S. history. We will then tour the Adaland Mansion. This stately brick home is set against the rolling hills of Barbour County and was built in 1870. The 23-room, Greek Revival mansion house has been restored with great attention to authenticity and features homemade brick and walnut woodwork throughout.
