Day 2

This morning, after breakfast, we will meet our local guide for a driving tour of historic Portland, including a stop at Portland Head lighthouse - Maine's oldest lighthouse. Next, we will take a private, guided tour of another nearby lighthouse that is not normally open to the public. This lighthouse is accessed via a granite jetty (those unable to climb stairs or manage the uneven terrain to the lighthouse will be offered an alternate activity). Enjoy lunch on your own in Freeport, home to the L.L. Bean flagship store and a variety of casual restaurants and cafés. After lunch, sit back and relax as we travel to Rockland - the lobster capital of the world. Here we'll visit the Sail, Power & Steam Museum on Rockland Harbor to learn about the local shipwrecks and see early steam engines, navigational equipment, and ship-building tools. Tonight's lodging and included dinner will be in the Bar Harbor region.

Day 3

Following breakfast, we will take a scenic Bar Harbor nature cruise on Frenchman's Bay where you'll search for eagles, porpoises, seals, and other marine mammals and birds aboard this narrated sightseeing cruise. Pass by Egg Rock Lighthouse and see the coastline views of Acadia National Park. Enjoy lunch on your own in Bar Harbor where there are many casual restaurants to choose from. After lunch we'll meet our local guide for a narrated driving tour of Acadia National Park. See the breathtaking beauty that has attracted the elite to this area for years. The views from the top of Cadillac Mountain are spectacular. Don your souvenir lobster hat tonight while we enjoy a traditional Maine lobster bake dinner in a waterfront setting. An alternative dish is available to those who don't wish to eat seafood.

Day 4

After breakfast we depart for Kennebunkport where we will enjoy lunch and shopping along the waterfront. Then we'll board a lobster boat and experience authentic lobster harvesting along the rocky coast of Kennebunkport, ME. Next, we'll discover the heritage of America's Grand Trolley era at the Seashore Trolley Museum. Take a scenic ride through the Maine countryside on a restored streetcar and tour the impressive exhibit barn. Lodging will be in Ogunquit, ME.
