Day 1
With an early departure we will arrive mid-morning at Old Westbury Gardens for a guided walking tour. This is the former estate of businessman John Shaffer Phipps, an heir to the Phipps family fortune. The Phipps' carefully designed and curated home reveals their deep love for art and design, from architecture and landscape to their impressive personal collection of art and antiques. The property was converted into a museum home in 1959 and has been enjoyed by locals and travelers ever since. Lunch will be on your own followed by a guided walking tour at Raynham Hall Museum, home of George Washington's intelligence operative, Robert Townsend, which is a time capsule of Long Island life in the 18th and 19th centuries. Later we will check-in to our hotel accommodations, dinner will be included at a local restaurant.
DDay 2
This morning after breakfast, we will meet our local guide who will lead us on a driving tour through the magical East End of Long Island. We will drive through the Southampton neighborhoods to see the estates of the rich and famous and view the majestic Atlantic Ocean from Coopers Beach, consistently named on the listing of America's Top Ten Beaches. We stop in Southampton Village for a guided walking tour and visit to the Southampton Arts Center. Lunch will be included at a local restaurant before we head to Montauk. Enroute, we will drive through Water Mill, Bridgehampton, East Hampton, and Amagansett. Upon arrival, we will have a self-guided walking tour of Montauk Lighthouse & Museum, one of the first lighthouses built in New York. Dinner will be included this evening.
CB, L, DDay 3
After breakfast, we will meet our guide for a guided driving tour of Sag Harbor with stops at the Old Whalers' Church and The Sag Harbor Whaling & Historical Museum for guided walking tours.
