Day 1

Sit back and relax as we drive across Pennsylvania to our lodging this evening in Maumee, OH. Stops for rest and lunch will be made enroute. Dinner will be on your own tonight.

Day 2

After breakfast we will travel to Elkhart, IN where we will meet our local guide and get "all the dirt" on a guided tour of the Quilt Gardens & Murals along the Heritage Trail. Our first stop on the trail will be at Krider World's Fair Garden. The Krider Nursey exhibit at the 1934 World's Fair has been restored to reflect the history of the nursey and its impact on the community. Explore at your own pace the botanical gardens, Quilt Garden exhibit, and the iconic structures as you walk the quaint paths. Afterwards, we will travel to Bonneyville Mill to see Trapunto and Applique quilt mural. You will have free time to explore the state's oldest operating grist mill and the peaceful grounds while there. Lunch will be on your own today, followed by a stop at Ruthmere's and Elkhart Central Park to see their magnificent quilt gardens. Following our Quilt Gardens & Murals tour we will check-in to The Essenhaus Inn for the next three nights. An included dinner will conclude our day.

Day 3

This morning, after breakfast, we will depart for Shipshewana where we will meet our local guide for an Amish Backroads Tour. During this tour we will visit Dutch Creek Farm Animal Park where we will take a wagon ride through the farm to see a wide variety of exotic and farm animals from all over the world. Next, we will see how leather belts are made at Silver Star Leather. You will have time to shop in the store before departing. After lunch on own, we will visit Carolyn's Kitchen for a private jam tasting. Carolyn's Kitchen is known for their no sugar, no artificial sweeteners, only sweetened by real fruit juice, jams. You will have time to shop before departing. Afterwards, we will see how Amish buggies and coffins are made. This evening we'll enjoy an included dinner which will be a traditional family-style Amish wedding feast.

Day 4

After breakfast our guide will meet us at the hotel for our Munch-A-Bunch in Amish Country tour. We will begin at a bustling Amish bakery famous for its addictive cashew crunch candy and cinnamon-caramel donuts that satisfy every connoisseur's sweet tooth. Next we will take part in a noodle tasting at Dutch Country Market, followed by a cheese tasting at Heritage Ridge Creamery. Known for their longhorn, and stirred curd cheeses, this creamery sources all the fresh milk they use to make their cheeses from local dairy farmers. After an included lunch in an Amish home, we will stop at Yoder Popcorn for a popcorn tasting and free time to explore their large selection of popcorn. Dinner and a guided wagon tour of a local Bison ranch will conclude our day.

Day 5

Following breakfast, we will check-out and depart for a leisurely cruise along the Saint Joseph River aboard the Elkhart River Queen, a 65-foot riverboat. Hear a bit of area history and learn how the river influenced Elkhart's development while gliding past beautiful riverside homes. The boat has two decks, one enclosed and air-conditioned, and one outdoors with a covered canopy - perfect for catching summer breezes. (Passengers must be 12 years or older to ride the Elkhart River Queen). Lunch will be included at a local restaurant. Afterwards, we will begin our journey home. Our lodging this evening will be in Westlake, OH. Dinner will be at your leisure.

Day 6

After breakfast we'll begin our journey home. With stops for rest & lunch, arrival home is scheduled for late afternoon.

Motorcoach seating is assigned at the time of reservation but cannot be guaranteed. Although we do our best to keep each traveler in the seat assigned at the time of reservation, there are times that it is necessary to move seat locations. Please be sure to verify your final seat number(s) with your driver at the time of boarding. Historically, daily seat rotation was practiced on most multi-day tours. We have suspended this practice for a period of time. Seat rotation will be explained by your driver or tour escort if reinstated.
