Day 1
This morning, we will depart to the Hudson River Valley, with a stop for rest and lunch on our own before arriving at the Home of Franklin D. Roosevelt National Historic Site. Here we will have a guided tour of Springwood, home to the longest-serving president of the United States from his childhood, through adulthood and until his death when it was transferred to the National Park Service and opened to the public. FDR frequently returned to the home to renew his spirit, and it bears an unmistakable imprint of his life and personality. Following will be a self-guided visit to the FDR Presidential Library and Museum, also on the site, where we will view documents and artifacts of the Roosevelt era preserved for future generations. We will then check in to our hotel before a visit to the Culinary Institute of America to meet the students, tour the main campus, and enjoy a unique tasting exercise. Widely recognized as the world's premier culinary college, the CIA has been at the forefront of culinary innovation and education for more than seven decades. Dinner will be included while visiting the campus.
DDay 2
After breakfast we'll check-out of our hotel and depart for a guided tour of the United States Military Academy at West Point. * Established in 1802 and initially founded by President Thomas Jefferson to train officers for the countries rapidly expanding army, the academy includes such notable graduates as Ulysses S. Grant, Douglas MacArthur, and Dwight D. Eisenhower. The morning will also include a visit to the West Point Museum, home to more than 60,000 Army historical artifacts. After an included lunch, our last stop before heading home is a tour and tasting at Brotherhood Winery. Dating back to 1839, America's Oldest Winery continues to produce award-winning Hudson Valley wines.
*Visitors must have a Real ID/Enhanced driver's license, retired military ID, DOD Common Access Card, service-connected Veterans Card, passport, social security card or birth certificate to enter the West Point.
