We will experience the heart of San Antonio at the River Walk which is filled with cafes and shops. This must see attraction is reminiscent of Venice.  Become mesmerized by the genteel charm of Galveston as you enjoy some of the finest examples of Victorian architecture in our country.  Return to the past as you take in Austin, the cornerstone of Texas history.  We've included all of the highlights of Texas for you to experience!

Day 1

Our route through the scenic Shenandoah Valley leads us to this evening's lodging in Dublin, Virginia.

Day 2

Today our escort will point out the highlights of Nashville before we travel to Jackson, Tennessee for the evening.


Day 3

En route to our lodging for the evening in Texarkana, Arkansas, we will tour Little Rock, capital of Arkansas as well as the state's largest city. Highlights will include the Quapaw Quarter - the oldest section of Little Rock, as well as the little rock for which the city was named.

Day 4

An early departure will bring us to Kilgore, Texas where we will visit the East Texas Oil Museum. A midday arrival in Dallas will allow us time to visit the Southfork Ranch. After checking-in to our hotel for a two-night stay, we will depart for dinner at a local restaurant.

Day 5

This morning, after breakfast at the hotel, a local guide will introduce us to the highlights of Dallas, Texas. Later we will visit the JFK Memorial and the Sixth Floor Museum where the life, death and legacy of President John F. Kennedy are detailed. We will also visit Dallas' historic West End District and its Festival Marketplace.


Day 6

This morning, after breakfast at the hotel, we depart Dallas for Waco, Texas, where we will visit the Texas Ranger Hall of Fame and Magnolia Market at the Silos. At the Texas Rangers Hall of Fame, a brief film and the exhibits tell the fascinating story of the legendary Texas Rangers. Magnolia Market at the Silos, owned and operated by Chip & Joanna Gaines of the HGTV series “Fixer Upper”, has become a destination for guests and fans around the country. There's a little something for everyone at Magnolia Market - shopping, games, the garden and even a bite to eat. Our visit to Austin will include a tour of the beautiful pink granite capitol building, plus the Bob Bullock Texas State History Museum, which tells the story of Texas. This evening we will enjoy a Texas style BBQ dinner together.

Day 7

From Austin we will travel to the 600 acre Lyndon B. Johnson National Historic Site for a tour of the ranch and the family cemetery. This afternoon we will visit the oldest family owned ranch in Texas, the historical Y.O. Ranch in Kerrville, TX. We will learn about the history of the ranch and have the opportunity to photograph over 50 species of exotic animals from all over the world. A chuck wagon dinner will also be included. Our lodging this evening will be in Kerrville.

Day 8

Turning eastward we will travel to San Antonio by mid-morning. Upon arrival, a local guide will introduce us to San Antonio highlights including the Buckhorn Hall of Horns, Institute of Texan Cultures and the Japanese Tea Gardens. Later there will be some free time to enjoy the River Walk, explore on your own and relax. Our lodging for the next two nights is at the edge of the beautiful San Antonio River Walk.


Day 9

An exciting day will begin with a visit to the Alamo - the Cradle of Texas Liberty. Next, we will enjoy a theatre experience at the Texas IMAX. This afternoon we will have a relaxing barge ride down the San Antonio River. This evening we will enjoy dinner and a breathtaking panorama view of Alamo City at the Tower of the Americas revolving restaurant.


Day 10

Knowing that some day we must return to this colorful city, we depart for Houston, the Lone Star State's largest city. This afternoon we will enjoy a guided city tour before checking-in to our hotel for a two-night stay.


Day 11

This morning we will visit The Johnson Space Flight Center, focal point for our country's manned space flight program. Later we will continue to Galveston, the Isle City, described by the New York Times as "a time machine transporting the visitor into a 19th century world of light and airy Victorian, Gothic, and Greek Revival buildings and homes." A guided tour of this island city will be included as well as a visit to The Offshore Oil Rig Museum. A delicious dinner will be included before returning to our hotel in Houston.

Day 12

From Houston we will motor east into Louisiana to Lafayette, capital of Acadiana, the region settled by the Acadians from Nova Scotia. Tonight's lodging will be in Baton Rouge, state capital of Louisiana.


Day 13

It is azalea time in the south, and Bellingrath Gardens has acres that are comparable to no other. When you have had enough floras, the porcelain display is out of this world. And don't forget the mansion filled with beautiful antiques. Our evening will be spent in Montgomery, Alabama.

Day 14

Today, we will tour Old Alabama Town, a 19th Century collection of buildings. We can tour a country doctor's office, drugstore, corner grocery and a log cabin. This afternoon we will enjoy a guided tour of Callaway Gardens. After settling in the hotel at Callaway Gardens, we will enjoy dinner.

Day 15

Before departing the area, we will tour the Little White House, built by Franklin D. Roosevelt in 1932 while governor of New York, prior to being inaugurated as President in 1933. Our lodging tonight will be in Burlington, North Carolina.


Day 16

Today's arrival home will be by early evening.
