Day 1
Our route through the scenic Shenandoah Valley, with stops for rest & lunch, will lead us to this evening's lodging in Wytheville, VA. Dinner will be at your leisure this evening.
Day 2
Our escort will point out the highlights of Nashville before we travel to Jackson, TN. Stops will be made enroute for rest & lunch. Dinner will be at your leisure.
CBDay 3
Today we travel to Texarkana, AR. Enroute we will make stops for rest & lunch, as well as visit Little Rock. Little Rock is the capital of Arkansas and the state's largest city. During our visit, we will enjoy a guided tour of the Historic Arkansas Museum and the Arkansas State Capitol Building. Dinner will be on your own after we check-in to our
Texarkana accommodations.
Day 4
After breakfast we'll have an early departure to Kilgore, TX where we will visit the East Texas Oil Museum. We'll stop for lunch on our own before a mid-day arrival in Dallas which will allow us time to visit the Southfork Ranch. After checking-in to our hotel for a two-night stay, you can enjoy the free Kickback dinner at the hotel at 5:30 PM or you can venture out to one of the restaurants nearby.
BDay 5
This morning a local guide will introduce us to the highlights of Dallas, TX including a visit to the AT&T Stadium, home to the Dallas Cowboys and one of the most expansive stadiums ever to be built. There will be a stop for lunch on our own during this touring. We will also visit Fort Worth and see the cattle drive at the Stockyards. Dinner will be at your leisure this evening. You can enjoy the free Kickback dinner at the hotel or you can venture out to one of the restaurants nearby.
BDay 6
We'll depart Dallas for Waco, where we will visit Magnolia Market. Magnolia Market at the Silos, owned and operated by Chip & Joanna Gaines of the HGTV series "Fixer Upper", has become a destination for guests and fans around the country. There's a little something for everyone at Magnolia Market - shopping, games, the garden, and even a bite to eat. By noon, we will arrive in Austin, where we will visit Bullock Texas State History Museum and tour the beautiful pink granite Capitol Building. Lunch will be on your own during our time at Bullock Museum. This evening we will enjoy an included Texas-style BBQ dinner.
B, DDay 7
We will depart Austin and travel to the 600-acre Lyndon B. Johnson National Historic Site for a tour of the ranch and the family cemetery. We'll have a stop for lunch on our own before an afternoon visit to the oldest family-owned ranch in Texas, the historical Y.O. Ranch in Kerrville, TX. We will learn about the history of the ranch and have the opportunity to photograph over 50 species of exotic animals from all over the world. A chuck wagon dinner will be included this evening. Our lodging this evening will be in Kerrville.
B, DDay 8
Today we travel eastward to San Antonio. Upon arrival, a local guide will introduce us to San Antonio highlights including Mission San Jose, the Japanese Tea Garden, the Mexican Market, San Fernando Cathedral, and Buckhorn Saloon & Museum. This is a driving tour with opportunities for disembarkation at some of the attractions. Our lodging for the next two nights is at the edge of the beautiful San Antonio River Walk. Dinner will be at your leisure. There are several dining options to choose from in the River Walk area.
BDay 9
Our day will begin with a visit to the Alamo - the Cradle of Texas Liberty. Next, we will enjoy a theatre experience at the Texas IMAX. There will be time for lunch on our own. This afternoon we will have a relaxing barge ride down the San Antonio River. This evening we will enjoy an included dinner and a breathtaking panoramic view of Alamo City at the Tower of the Americas revolving restaurant.
CB, DDay 10
We'll check-out and depart for Houston, the Lone Star State's largest city. There will be a stop for lunch on our own enroute to Houston. This afternoon we will enjoy a guided driving city tour before checking-in to our hotel for a two-night stay. Dinner is at your leisure this evening. You can enjoy the free Kickback dinner at the hotel or you can venture out to one of the restaurants nearby.
CBDay 11
This morning we will visit the NASA Johnson Space Center, focal point for our country's manned space flight program. Lunch will be on our own at the Space Center. Later we will continue to Galveston, the Isle City, described by the New York Times as "a time machine transporting the visitor into a 19th century world of light and airy Victorian, Gothic, and Greek Revival buildings and homes." A guided driving tour of this island city will be included as well as a visit to The Offshore Oil Rig Museum. Dinner will be included before returning to our hotel in Houston.
B, DDay 12
We'll enjoy breakfast, then depart Houston and head east into Louisiana to Lafayette, capital of Acadiana, the region settled by the Acadians from Nova Scotia. Lunch is on our own in Lafayette. Tonight's lodging will be in Baton Rouge, the state capital of Louisiana. Dinner will be at your leisure. You can enjoy the free Kickback dinner at the hotel or you can venture out to one of the restaurants nearby.
BDay 13
It is azalea time in the south and Bellingrath Gardens has acres that are comparable to no other. When you have had enough floras, you can explore the vast display of porcelain and the mansion filled with beautiful antiques. Lunch is included during our time at Bellingrath Gardens. Our evening will be spent in Montgomery, AL. Dinner will be at your leisure. You can enjoy the free Kickback dinner at the hotel or you can venture out to one of the restaurants nearby.
B, LDay 14
Our day will begin with a tour Rosa Parks Museum, an active memorial to the life of civil rights icon Rosa Parks and the lessons of the Montgomery Bus Boycott that brought racial integration to transportation and international attention to civil rights. Lunch is on our own enroute to our next attraction. This afternoon we will enjoy a guided tour of Callaway Gardens. After settling into the hotel at Callaway Gardens, we will enjoy an included dinner.
B, DDay 15
Before departing the area, we will tour the Little White House, built by Franklin D. Roosevelt in 1932 while governor of New York, prior to being inaugurated as President in 1933. There will be time for lunch on our own enroute to tonight's lodging in Greensboro, NC. Dinner will be at your leisure. You can enjoy the free Kickback dinner at the hotel or you can venture out to one of the restaurants nearby.
BDay 16
With stops for rest & lunch enroute, arrival home will be by early evening.
