Day 1
Today we depart for our holiday getaway in Cambridge, OH. With stops for rest & lunch enroute we will arrive to our first attraction, The Belmont Country Victorian Mansion Museum. This Romanesque Revival-Style mansion was completed in 1893 and stayed in the possession of private families until the 1960s when it became a public museum. Twenty-six period-themed rooms await you in this historic gem. We will then check-in to our lodging for the next three evenings and then meet our local guide who will be with us for the next 2 days. Dinner will be included at a local restaurant, followed by a visit to the Guernsey County Courthouse for their Holiday Light Show. This historical 1881 building jumps into the 21st Century as it is bathed in more than 66,000 lights, an amazing twenty-foot Christmas tree, 60 animated displays, and holiday music.
Day 2
Following breakfast, we'll begin our day with a guided driving tour of Cambridge. Afterward we will visit Dickens Victorian Village. You'll see 180 life-like figures stationed along Wheeling Ave at lamp posts, benches, and in store windows depicting society at that time. Each life-sized mannequin is hand-crafted, painted, and dressed in period clothing to provide an authentic Victorian look. Next we'll tour the National Museum of Cambridge Glass, which was in production from 1902-1958. This is where the world's most extensive collection of Cambridge Glass is housed in addition to the molds, tools, and equipment used to manufacture handmade glassware. After our included boxed lunch we will have a guided tour of John and Annie Glenn Historic Site. This museum honors the first American to orbit the earth, John Glenn and his family. During our visit, we will be met by a period actor who will invite us into his home and engage in life as Glenn's family did in 1944 during World War ll. Dinner and entertainment will be included this evening.
