Day 2

After breakfast we will meet our local guide for a narrated driving tour of Boston. The guide will give narration of the local historical sites and the area's holiday traditions. Each guest will receive a holiday stocking from the guide and during our touring you will receive a stocking gift at each stop. Next, we will head to Quincy Market for some free time for lunch on your own and holiday shopping before returning to the hotel to relax and freshen up. Late this afternoon, we will depart for Gloucester, MA for a "Christmas at a Castle Dinner" at Hammond Castle. Constructed in 1926 by inventor John Hays Hammond, Jr. as his residence, this medieval castle houses his private collection of artifacts from ancient Rome through the Renaissance. You can explore the many rooms of the castle as well as enjoy the beauty of the grounds and view the Atlantic Shoreline prior to dinner.

Note

Hammond Castle is a real castle. It has about 15 very wide stone stairs to get to the entrance. There are narrow passages inside and stairs in many of the hallways and entrances to rooms as you tour the castle. There is no handicapped accessibility. The Castle is about 30 minutes from the hotel, so there will be no way for the driver to take anyone back to the hotel unexpectedly.

Day 3

After breakfast we will meet our guide for a day of touring. We start with the Beacon Hill Private Homes Holiday House Tour. This extensive tour is arranged for you to see the insides of these private homes. Walk with your Beacon Hill Guide down cobbled streets among beautiful brownstones, each with its own characteristic style or architecture. You will tour 3 private residences, hosted by the homeowner, allowing you to get a glimpse of life on the hill. Each home is decorated for the holidays. After a family-style lunch at Maggiano's Italian Restaurant, we will attend the Boston Pops Christmas Concert at Symphony Hall. Dinner this evening will be included at a local restaurant.

Attire Note

While there is no dress code for Boston Symphony and Boston Pops performances, patrons generally wear semi-formal, elegant and business attire.

Day 4

Today enjoy a leisurely breakfast. By mid-morning, we will check-out of the hotel and depart for home. Enroute, we will stop for lunch at Salem Cross Inn, where we will enjoy their Original Historic Fireside Feast. Relax by the fieldstone fireplace as the cackling fire roasts your prime rib by rotating it slowly over a crackling fire of wild cherry logs. This event has been featured on the Food Network, Chronicle and the Phantom Gourmet. After our delicious feast, we will continue our homeward journey. Arrival home is scheduled for early evening.
