If you have a fancy for flowers and go gaga over gardens, this tour is for you! Two nights at Callaway Gardens and one night in Macon, Georgia are featured on this tour. Founded in the 1930's, Callaway Gardens Resort features 2,500 acres of woodlands, lakes, wildlife, and flowers. Each March, Macon becomes a pink cotton-spun paradise as over 300,000 Yoshino Cherry trees bloom in all their glory.

Day 1

Today we depart on our southern journey. With stops for rest & lunch, we'll arrive to the location of our overnight lodging in Hillsville, VA. Dinner will be at your leisure.

Day 2

After breakfast at the hotel, we will make our way to Pine Mountain. With stops for rest and lunch along the way, we will arrive at Callaway Lodge & Spa by late afternoon. Upon arrival you will have free time to explore the grounds before our included dinner at the lodge.

Day 3

Following a full buffet breakfast at the lodge, we will enjoy a guided driving tour of Callaway Gardens including Callaway Brothers Azalea Bowl, Overlook Azalea Garden, and Cecil B. Day Butterfly Center. It's safe to say that Callaway Gardens is known for its azaleas. After lunch on our own, you can take a shuttle back to the gardens, relax at the lodge, or take a stroll along the mile-long sidewalk around the 65-acre Robin Lake. Dinner is included at a local restaurant.

Day 4

After breakfast and check-out, we will have a self-guided tour of Roosevelt's Little White House Historic Site, the personal retreat of Franklin D. Roosevelt. He built the home in 1932, while still governor of New York, just prior to being inaugurated as the 32nd President of the United States in 1933. Next, we will travel to Macon, GA. Upon arrival we will have lunch on our own in this charming historic city with free time at the Mulberry Street Arts & Crafts Festival. This afternoon we will tour the Mercer Music at Capricorn Museum. The museum interprets the history and impact of Capricorn Records and Capricorn Sound Studios in the context of Macon's rich music heritage. It's more than 1,200 square feet of artifacts, murals, and interactive digital kiosks bring Capricorn's story to life. Next we head to the Hay House for a guided tour where we will feel like royalty as we step through the doors of this National Historic Landmark also referred to as the "Palace of the South". We will check-in to our lodging in Macon, GA and enjoy an included dinner at a local restaurant.

Day 5

After breakfast at the hotel, we will enjoy a step-on guided driving tour featuring Macon History followed by a self-guided visit to The Cannonball House. Step inside this classic Green Revival mansion built in 1853. This was the only house damaged during the Civil War when it was struck by a Hotchkiss shell during a federal attack in 1864. Restored with period furnishings, it houses a Civil War Museum and re-created meeting room of the world's first secret society for women, Alpha Delta Pi, and Phi Mu sororities. Next we'll depart for Fayetteville, NC with stops for rest & lunch along the way. Upon arrival we'll check-in to our lodging and enjoy dinner on our own.

Day 6

We'll have breakfast this morning before departing to head back to PA. With stops for rest & lunch, arrival home is scheduled for early evening.
