Day 1

Cooperstown, NY 1839, Abner Doubleday - a decorated Union Army officer who fired the first shot in defense of Fort Sumter at the start of the Civil War and later served at the Battle of Gettysburg - chases Phinney's cow from their pasture and creates America's National Pastime.

It all started here! Dedicated in 1939, the National Baseball Hall of Fame houses stories and artifacts honoring the greats of baseball's past.

The tour of the museum is self-guided and you can spend as much time as you need to see all the exhibits. There are several restaurants in Cooperstown to have lunch on your own.
