This morning we will travel north on the Kancamagus Scenic Highway for a 34-mile drive through the White Mountain National Forest. In North Conway Village we will have free time for browsing and lunch before continuing our journey through northern New Hampshire and into Maine’s lush mountainous interior.  Our home for the next two evenings will be at The Rangeley Inn, in Rangeley, Maine where innkeepers go out of their way to ensure everyone’s comfort and enjoyment. Tonight you are free to relax at the Inn.  B, D

Following breakfast in the dining room, we will depart for Coos Canyon with a stop at the “Height of the Land” scenic lookout. Upon arrival we will visit the mineral store and join a local prospector who will show us how to pan for gold. Lunch is included back at the Inn before departing for a cruise on Rangeley Lake. Following the cruise we will have a self guided visit of the Outdoor Sporting Museum. We will return to the Rangeley Inn for dinner. This evening we will go moosin’ just before dusk to see how many of these creatures we can spot along the roadside, munching weeds. B, L, D

Sadly we must leave Rangeley behind as we travel to our final evening in Portland. En route we will visit the Norlands Living History Center in Livermore, Maine. Here we’ll learn the story of Maine’s most famous family, the Washburns, through a mixture of dramatic and humorous activities. An old fashioned country meal is included.  Next we’ll enjoy a 90 minute scenic Lighthouse Cruise through the busy harbor and innermost islands of Casco Bay. Our lodging this evening will be at the Hampton Inn in Portland.  B, L
