Thursday, September 22
This afternoon, we’ll tour the Virginia Aquarium and IMAX presentation. As the state’s largest aquarium, its’ 2 buildings host 700,000 gallons of aquariums and live animal habitats, touch tanks, hands-on exhibits, outdoor aviary and more! Highlights include sharks, sea turtles, harbor seals, river otters, sting rays and more. After checking into our oceanfront hotel, we’ll have dinner at Captain George’s Seafood Buffet. D
Friday, September 23
After breakfast we will tour the Norfolk Naval Base for an opportunity to see aircraft carriers, destroyers, frigates and amphibious assault ships at one of the busiest airfields in the country. Lunch will be on your own at the MacArthur Center Mall. This afternoon we’ll visit the Nauticus and USS Wisconsin. This marine science museum celebrates the economic, naval and natural power of the sea.. A narrated harbor cruise will be followed by free time on the oceanfront. B
Saturday, September 24
After a leisurely breakfast, you’ll have all day to enjoy the Neptune Festival. A host of activities such as the internationally renowned North American Sand Sculpting Competition draws visitors and guests from across the country to the Virginia Beach Boardwalk. Daily concerts in tented festival stages, over 275 artisans for the Neptune Art and Craft Show, and a smorgasbord of food vendors dishing out delectable delights are scattered along 32 blocks of the boardwalk. Don’t miss the Grand Parade, which consists of floats, military units, costume characters and marching bands! B
Sunday, September 25
This morning after breakfast, we’ll depart for a Dolphin Watching Cruise. After the cruise, we’ll climb the Cape Henry Lighthouse, which was built in 1792 and is a National Historic Landmark. We’ll have free time in Towne Center before heading home.
