Monday, July 4
Chicago, or the “Windy City” as it is sometimes called, remains one of the premiere tourist destinations in the Midwest. The “Windy City” nickname comes not from the gusty winds off Lake Michigan, but from Chicago’s reputation as a city with boisterous politicians. Tonight we will overnight in Elyria, Ohio.
Tuesday, July 5
This morning we will head west and reach South Bend, Indiana. After lunch we will visit the Studebaker Museum and enjoy a guided walking tour of Notre Dame Campus prior to checking into the Morris Inn of Notre Dame. We will enjoy dinner at the Inn tonight. L, D
Wednesday, July 6
After a continental breakfast at the hotel we will travel to Chicago for a city highlight’s tour, including Chicago’s “Magnificent Mile”, the financial district and the “loop”. After lunch, we will enjoy free time for walking and shopping at the Navy Pier or Magnificent Mile. Next, we will check into our downtown lodging. Tonight’s dinner takes us back to the roaring 20’s at Tommy Gun’s Garage Dinner show. B, L, D
Thursday, July7
This morning we will enjoy a “gangster tour” that promises to remind us of the old gangster days. This afternoon we will have free time to see more sights of Chicago. This evening we will enjoy a cruise on the Chicago River. CB, L
Friday, July 8
This morning we will visit the Willis Tower and view Chicago from 103 stories above the ground. Lunch will be a famous, authentic “Chicago Style” deep dish pizza. This afternoon we will begin our trek home with an overnight stay near Toledo. CB, L
Saturday, July 9
Today our tour of Chicago comes to an end. But, as Frank Sinatra sang, Chicago will become your kind of town as well. CB
