Friday, June 17
Today enjoy the scenery as we travel to our first night’s lodging in Maine. Dinner will be included this evening. D
Saturday, June 18
After breakfast, we will meet our guide for a narrated driving tour of the coastal villages of Kennebunk & Kennebunkport. We will drive past the sandy beaches and rocky coastlines, pass the George Bush Estate at Walker’s Point, and hear the history of the shipbuilding towns and the legend of the Wedding Cake House. You’ll also visit the Franciscan Monastery with its nicely groomed lawns, outdoor shrines and chapel. We’ll then learn how the Maine lobstermen make their living aboard a Lobster cruise. Lunch will be on your own in Dock Square in Kennebunkport. This afternoon we will take a ride into yesteryear and discover the heritage of America’s grand trolley era at the Seashore Trolley Museum. You will ride a trolley on the tracks through the woodlands of Maine. A classic downeast lobster bake (substitute available) and sing-along is included this evening. B, D
Sunday, June 19
Our day starts with breakfast then a visit to the Portland Head Lighthouse before an excursion on the Maine Narrow Gauge Railroad. This scenic train ride will take us along Portland Harbor, overlooking the Calendar Islands of Casco Bay. Then we travel from Portland to Boston on Amtrak’s Downeaster Train. Our lodging will be in Cape Cod and dinner will be included this evening near the resort. B, D
Monday, June 20
This morning following a continental breakfast, we’ll go on a guided tour of Hyannis with stops at the Kennedy and Korean War Memorials then drive through the village of Hyannisport and view St. Francis Xavier Church. We will then enjoy a sightseeing excursion on the Cape Cod Scenic Railroad which will bring us to Sandwich, the oldest town on the Cape You will have time to enjoy lunch on your own before a visit to Heritage Museum and Gardens. This evening, dinner will be included. CB, D
