We depart this morning for our July 4th getaway. Upon arrival, we will meet our guide for the Boston Pops rehearsal concert. Everyone will receive a wrist band which gives you entrance to the Hatch Shell stage. The concert is located in the oval (lawn space) in front of the stage. A summer barbecue will be had before the rehearsal concert begins. This is the best way to actually see the Boston Pops because on July 4th, you will not be able to get anywhere near the stage. Please Note: You will be required to bring your own lawn chair for this concert. Following the concert, we will travel to the La Quinta Inn and Suites in Andover, MA (a suburb of Boston), our lodging for the next two evenings. D
Monday, July 4
Today following a continental breakfast, we will travel to the dock for a Boston Harbor lobster lunch cruise on the Spirit of Boston. On this three hour cruise we will follow the USS Constitution, aka “Old Ironsides”, as she sets sail from her dock at the Charlestown Navy Yard in Boston Harbor for her once a year cruise. We will then visit the JFK Library and Museum. The museum captures the powerful story of the Kennedy years, giving you “first hand” experience of President Kennedy’s life, leadership and legacy. A light dinner at the Hyatt Regency Cambridge Hotel is included. We will then stake our claim on the ground at the Boston Esplanade where the Boston Pops directed by Keith Lockhart will be performing at the Hatch Shell. Please Note: The seating location for the concert will be reserved, but you are required to bring your own lawn chair. The park is about 7 city blocks long and the performance is broadcast so no matter where you sit you can hear the patriotic music and view the river strewn with everything from dingy boats to yachts, all vying for that “perfect position” to see the fireworks from the best angle. The spectacular fireworks extravaganza with the sound of the Boston Pops Orchestra in the background will make a multi-sensational experience! CB, L, D

This morning following the continental breakfast, we will meet our guide for a historic Boston tour including parts of the Freedom Trail, a visit to Old North Church and Harvard University to see Harvard Yard. We will end the tour at the USS Constitution Old Ironsides and the Constitution Visitor’s Center. Lunch will be on your own in Quincy Market before departing for home. We will return home later this evening. CB
