Sit back and relax as we travel southward to our lodging for the evening in Burlington, North Carolina. Day two’s destination is the Callaway Gardens Resort in Pine Mountain, Georgia where we will be guests at the Callaway Gardens Inn. Founded in the 1930’s, the resort features 14,000 acres of woodlands, lakes, wildlife and flowers. Highlights also include the John A. Sibley Horticultural Center, a 5- acre greenhouse and garden complex with narrow pathways that wind among azaleas, ferns, citrus trees and camellias. The Day Butterfly Center occupies 4 1/2 acres within Callaway’s Meadowlark Gardens which feature a variety of tropical plants sheltering hummingbirds, pheasants and more than 50 species of butterflies. Monday, October 12
Following a delicious breakfast in the Inn’s Plantation Room we will have more time to explore the many delights of Callaway Gardens. A step-on tour guide will board our coach for a very interesting and informative tour of the gardens. Late this morning we must continue our journey south to our next overnight in Biloxi, Mississippi at the Isle of Capri Casino Resort. B
Tuesday, October 13
Before we bid farewell to Biloxi, we will enjoy a Shrimping Boat excursion and visit Beauvoir, the Jefferson Davis Home and Presidential Library. Our lodging for the next three nights is in the charming French Quarter. B

Wednesday, October 14
This morning we will enjoy a driving tour of the city of New Orleans. Next we will enjoy a delicious brunch buffet at New Orleans’ famous Court of Two Sisters Restaurant. This afternoon we will have free time to enjoy the city of New Orleans on our own. BR
Thursday, October 15
Today’s adventure will take us deep into the New Orleans’ bayou for an exciting swamp boat ride followed by lunch and entertainment. Our return to the hotel will be by mid-afternoon so that you will have plenty of time to enjoy your last day in New Orleans. L
Friday, October 16
This morning we will visit the nationally acclaimed National D-Day Museum. The museum’s exhibits encompass the June 6, 1944 invasion of Normandy, the Home Front during WWII, and the D-Day invasions in the Pacific. This afternoon we will experience the fine art of making Mardi Gras masks as we have the opportunity to decorate one ourselves and take it home. Tonight’s lodging will be in Slidell, LA. L
Saturday, October 17
As we depart Slidell enroute to Birmingham, AL, we will stop at the University of Alabama for a campus tour and visit. CB
Sunday, October 18 & Monday, October 19
Traveling northward through Chattanooga and Knoxville will lead us to our lodging for the evening in Dublin, Virginia. CB Tomorrow our Deep South adventure will come to a close with our arrival home scheduled for early evening. CB
