Fall is an absolutely spectacular time of year to take a road trip through the Laurel Highlands. This is the time of year when the region’s picturesque scenery is one of the main attractions. Join us as we learn about the heritage of this area at the Johnstown Flood Museum and visit the Flight 93 Memorial of our local heroes.

Friday, September 25
Today we travel to the beautiful Laurel Highlands and Ligonier, PA, our home for the next two nights. We will enjoy time at Old Bedford Village, the living history village that brings the past into the present. At the hotel we will be greeted with a red carpet roll-out and welcome reception upon arrival. For tonight’s dinner, we will have a unique Colonial buffet with period entertainment and costumed servers. D

Saturday, September 26
We will start the day with a full breakfast buffet before traveling to the Somerset Historical Center where the story of rural Pennsylvania life, agriculture and progress is portrayed. Tour includes 1773 log cabin, cider press demonstration and maple sugar camp. Next we will travel to Johnstown Flood Museum where a tour and award-winning documentary film demonstrate the events of this 1889 catastrophic flood, one of the worst in American history. Afterwards enjoy lunch at the Johnstown Brewery before heading back to charming downtown Ligonier for some free time for shopping in the more than 60 unique specialty shops and antique stores located throughout town. Tonight, it’s off to the Rockwood Mill Shoppes and Opera House for dinner and a show. B, L, D

Sunday, September 27
After a full breakfast buffet, we will make our way to Shanksville to visit the Flight 93 Memorial followed by a visit to the Flight 93 Memorial Church. Then we will travel to the Quecreek Mine Rescue Site where nine trapped miners were miraculously rescued after the Quecreek mining accident in July 2002. Here we will visit the Quecreek Memorial where the Arnold family will tell this incredible story that occurred on their farm. Afterwards a lunch stop at the Inn at Georgian Place followed by a tour of this elegant 22 room turn of the century mansion restored to its original grandeur before departing for home. B, L
