Friday, August 21
This morning we depart Pennsburg and head north to Utica, New York. We will have lunch on our own in downtown Utica. After lunch, we will check into Hotel Utica. In the afternoon we will visit the Saranac Brewery in Utica. As one of the few remaining great American regional breweries, the Matt Brewing Company has prospered at the foothills of the Adirondack Mountains in Central New York for over a century. Tour starts with history and hops, on to brewing, bottling and tasting! Dinner is at Hotel Utica, well-known for its excellent cuisine. D

Saturday, August 22
After breakfast at the hotel, we will be boarding the Adirondack Scenic Railroad departing from Union Station in Utica. All aboard for the Adirondacks, riding in climate controlled coaches, or take in the fresh, clean air in the open car, through remote forests, past sparkling rivers, over bridges, tranquil ponds and streams, into the magnificent beauty of the six million acre Adirondack Park. Become a witness of nature's beauty and look out for the many animals and birds along the routes. Arrive in Thendara Station near Old Forge. Stroll shops including Old Forge Hardware, a fixture of this community. We will then tour the Adirondack Museum. We will depart and check into the Comfort Inn on Lake Placid. Dinner will be in Lake Placid. Your evening is free to explore or relax. B, D

Sunday, August 23
This morning after breakfast at the hotel, we will tour the Olympic Ski Jump Complex, which includes an elevator ride to the top of the 120 meter ski jump tower with spectacular views. Learn about the training of future Olympians. After this we have a Mystery Stop. Next on the agenda is the 1932 and 1980 Olympic Arenas Tour. See where the US won gold over Russia and Finland, where Eric Heiden won the 5 gold medals for speed skating and more. Lunch is on your own in the village. In the afternoon, we depart for the Lake Placid Cruise aboard “Doris”. See homes of the rich and famous of yesteryear and today. Return to port and go back to your hotel for some R & R, swim, sit in the sun, or do some Village Shopping. CB

Monday, August 24
Today starts out with breakfast at the hotel. Depart for High Falls Gorge, Wilmington. A 1.3 billion year old gorge with spectacular 700’ falls, suspension bridges, primeval forest and breathtaking views of an ancient time. From here we’ll go to Whiteface Mountain Gondola Ride, where we’ll be taken to one of the summits to see your final spectacular vista of the ancient Adirondacks in all their glory. Lunch on your own is at the Whiteface Cafeteria. We’ll depart for home with arrival later this evening. CB
