Saturday, August 8
Today we will fly to Calgary, Alberta’s largest city, to begin our exciting tour of the Canadian Rockies. Enjoy some time at leisure to relax or do some independent exploring.
Sunday, August 9
This morning we’ll journey south to the prairie lands enjoying the spectacular views of the Rockies in the distance. We’ll visit Head-Smashed-In Buffalo Jump, designated as a World Heritage Site. Later we’ll travel south and cross over the border into Montana where you will enjoy a scenic drive passing through quaint villages and along roads known for viewing grizzly bears, black bears, mountain goats, cougars, wolves, moose and elk before we arrive in Waterton Lakes, AB, our home for the next two evenings. Monday, August 10
Today explore Glacier National Park. A naturalist’s paradise, Glacier preserves over one million acres of forests, Alpine meadows and lakes and is home to over 70 species of mammals and 270 species of birds. Enjoy a drive over one of the most breathtaking roads in North America, “Going To The Sun Road”, which stretches for 52 miles across the Continental Divide and offers incredible views of the valley and Glacier National Park. Tuesday, August 11
This morning we depart Montana enroute to the majestic Canadian Rockies. Upon arriving in Banff, enjoy leisure time to explore its charm, grace & beauty. Your evening features a fun-filled, award-winning dinner show, “Oh Canada Eh?!” Enjoy a musical tribute to Canada as a singing Mountie, lumberjack and other native characters serve your family style meal in a log cabin atmosphere. Wednesday, August 12
Begin the day with a sightseeing tour of the area including stops at lovely Bow Falls and the fascinating Hoodoos, land of sleeping giants. The afternoon is at leisure. You may choose to browse through the shops and museums or just take in the natural beauty of the area. B
Thursday, August 13
A wonderful day of sightseeing is in store for you while enroute to Jasper. Journey along the unforgettable Icefields Parkway: behold lovely waterfalls, rushing rivers, glacial peaks, imposing cliffs and snowcapped mountain ranges. Stop at the Columbia Icefields for a ride (weather permitting) across this mass of glacial ice which is over 1,000 feet thick. Continuing up the parkway, you may see bears and stately elk. Stop at Athabasca Falls before arriving in Jasper. B
Friday, August 14
We leave Jasper behind and motor out of the Canadian Rockies into the prairies of Alberta. Enjoy a trip to the extraordinary Maligne Canyon before you return to the city of Calgary. Tonight, enjoy a farewell dinner at a popular local restaurant. B, D
Saturday, August 15
This morning after breakfast we depart for our return flight back home. A Perkiomen coach will be awaiting our return to transfer us back to Pennsburg. B
