Our first day of travel will bring us to our deluxe lodging in Columbus, Ohio. Our escort will point out the sights as we cruise westward through Indiana and Illinois. Our lodging this evening will be near St. Louis, Missouri where we will also visit the famous Gateway Arch. CB
Friday, June 19
While crossing Missouri and Kansas farmland, we will stop for a visit at the Harry S. Truman Library in Kansas City before heading on to our lodging this evening in Salina, Kansas. CB
Saturday, June 20
As we pass from Central to Mountain Standard Time the terrain becomes more rugged. The grandeur of the Rocky Mountain skyline will lure us into Denver where we will spend the next two nights. CB
Sunday, June 21
Some of the sights today will be Berthound Pass, Grand Lake, Rocky Mountain National Park, Thompson Canyon, Estes Park, and one of the most exhilarating and scenic drives in the world along Trail Ridge Road.
Monday, June 22
Today we cross over the Colorado Rockies, travel westward through the Eisenhower Tunnel and allow free time for shopping and lunch in panoramic Vail. Our afternoon leads us through Glenwood Canyon along the Colorado River past the fruit orchards near Palisades and on to our lodging for the evening in Grand Junction.
Tuesday, June 23
Cliffs of sandstone colored with shades of red, pink and purple, and unusual vegetation enhance our view as the motorcoach climbs to the lookout points at the Colorado National Monument. After lunch we will take a photographic tour of the red rock country of southeastern Utah, Arches National Park. In this desert grassland, nature has fashioned arches and windows, balanced rocks, shafts, courtyards and gardens – a fabulous world of colors and shapes. Our lodging this evening will be in Moab, Utah. Tonight we will experience Moab’s original evening spectacular on the Colorado River, Canyonlands by Night. L
Wednesday, June 24
Today’s highlight will be Bryce Canyon National Park. From our tour along the rim road we will look down into the temples, cathedrals, spires, fantastic shapes and formations in shades of golden yellow, orange, pink and crimson. Our lodging this evening will be near the park entrance.
Thursday, June 25
Zion National Park shows off a spectacular multicolored gorge, a strangely colored land of sandstone dunes, shale and gigantic limestone masses. Later this afternoon we will relax with a scenic boat cruise on Lake Powell. Our lodging for the next two nights will be in nearby Page, Arizona. L
Friday, June 26
Our adventure today will be a guided tour of the Grand Canyon South Rim, truly one of the most breathtaking sights in the world. Admission to the exciting Grand Canyon IMAX theatre is also included.
Saturday, June 27
A stop will be made at the Four Corners Monument which is the only place in the country where four states meet. In Mesa Verde National Park we will explore some of the most remarkable and best preserved Pueblo cliff dwellings and pit houses in the country. Our lodging for the next two nights will be in Durango, Colorado.
Sunday, June 28
Early this morning we’ll board the Silverton Narrow Gauge for a scenic half day ride through the La Plata and San Juan Mountains. Arrival in Silverton will allow time for lunch and shopping in this very authentic western town. This evening we will enjoy dinner at the Strater Hotel. D
Monday, June 29
Our destination today is Santa Fe, the charming capital city of New Mexico. Here we will enjoy free time for silver and turquoise shopping plus a visit to the Mission of San Miguel of Santa Fe.
Tuesday, June 30
Traveling eastward through the Texas Panhandle will bring us to our lodging for the evening in Elk City, Oklahoma.
Wednesday, July 1
We will stop to visit the National Cowboy Hall of Fame in Oklahoma City before we travel to our lodging for the evening near Conway, Arkansas. B
Thursday, July 2
Arkansas’ rolling plateaus take us over the mighty Mississippi river into Tennessee. By mid-afternoon we will arrive in Nashville to see a show at the Nashville Nightlife Theatre. CB
Friday, July 3 and Saturday, July 4
Our escort will point out the highlights of Nashville and Knoxville as we travel to tonight’s rest stop in the Roanoke, Virginia area. CB Our arrival home tomorrow is scheduled for late afternoon. CB
