A Perkiomen Motorcoach will transfer us from Pennsburg to the Airport for our flight to Fairbanks, Alaska. Upon arrival in Fairbanks, we will be transferred directly to our hotel and the evening will be free to spend at our leisure.
Thursday, July 9
This morning, visit the fascinating El Dorado Gold Mine where you’ll rub elbows with real Alaskan prospectors and try your luck panning for gold. Later, board a Sternwheeler Riverboat for more than a passing look at Alaska’s frontier lifestyle and Native culture.
Friday, July 10
Board your luxury Princess Railcar for the scenic trip to Denali National Park. Enjoy panoramic views from the observation lounge and take advantage of the open-air platform. Arrive at the Denali Princess Wilderness Lodge with plenty of time to bask in the incomparable setting. If you’re feeling active, take a hike or join an optional flight seeing, river rafting or golfing tour.
Saturday, July 11
Today’s highlights include an educational Natural History Tour into Denali National Park. Later, sightsee by motorcoach en route to the dazzling Mt. McKinley Princess Wilderness Lodge, the best spot to view the continent’s tallest peak.
Sunday, July 12
Take advantage of your morning at leisure. Then, sightsee by motorcoach to Talkeetna and re-board the train for dramatic scenery and attentive service. Enjoy your evening in Anchorage.
Monday, July 13
Enjoy a spectacular drive along the historic Seward Highway to where your cruise ship awaits in Whittier, The Island Princess, our home for our 7 night voyage of the glaciers. This ship was made for the wonders of Alaska. Get active in the fitness center, browse the world class art collection, and unwind with shopping or a massage. Dining choices include Traditional or Anytime Dining, specialty restaurants plus casual options galore. After dinner, head for the casino or take in a show. Day or night, it’s always an adventure on this incredible ship. D
Tuesday, July 14
There’s a picture of a place in Alaska that many of us have seen. Brochures use this picture to represent the immensity of what makes Alaska so unique in its beauty. The place in these pictures is called College Fjord. When you cruise College Fjord with Princess, your ship will be the only ship scheduled in the Fjord at that time. What could be better than having this unique glacier experience all to yourself? B, L, D
Wednesday, July 15
Get your cameras ready! Today we will enjoy the towering glaciers of Glacier Bay. We’ll also hear interesting information about the history, geology and wildlife. B, L, D
Thursday, July 16
This morning our ship will port in Skagway. This was the gateway to the gold fields and memories of the gold rush are everywhere. Step back into history at the Trail of '98 Museum, sightsee along the White Pass Rail Route to the Yukon, or try sport fishing, mountain biking or flight seeing. B, L, D
Friday, July 17
Juneau is not only the capital of the state of Alaska, but also a fascinating place to explore. Today we can go sightseeing, shop in town or choose from a wide array of optional shore excursions. B, L, D
Saturday, July 18
Today we visit Ketchikan. Southeast Alaska's "First City", Ketchikan is as picturesque as they come. The town is built on piles out over the water and clings to the slopes of Deer Mountain. Native culture abounds at Saxman Village and Totem Bight State Park. B, L, D
Sunday, July 19
We will have a chance to explore the Island Princess from top to bottom as we spend our last day at sea. Read a book in the library, take an aerobics class, listen to a lecture or just find the perfect chair to relax in on deck. It's up to you. B, L, D
Monday, July 20
The morning sunrise will find us in Vancouver. We must say good-bye to the Island Princess and transfer to the airport for our flight home where a Perkiomen Motorcoach will be waiting to take us back to Pennsburg. B
