| Winterthur-Brandywine Christmas Brandywine River Valley Friday, December 12, 2008 $89 Motorcoach Boarding Locations: Quakertown, Pennsburg, Boyertown, Pottstown Our day begins at Winterthur where we will have a guided tour of the holiday-inspired rooms & displays that re-create winter celebrations in early America. Winterthur is nestled in historic Brandywine Valley and was a working farm for 150 years before opening to the public in 1951. The Winterthur Museum displays the world's premier collection of American Decorative Arts of 1640 to 1860. It is also the home of the Campbell Collection of Soup Tureens. These impressive objects held a place of pride on lavish dining tables of the past. A cafe voucher is included for the Winterthur Restaurant. After lunch, we'll go to the Brandywine River Museum. This museum combines the charm of the old with the excitement of the new, the elegance of art with the grandeur of nature. On the banks of the Brandywine River, the Museum is a unique showcase of American Art and is home to one of the largest and most comprehensive collections of works by N.C., Andrew and Jamie Wyeth. The holiday season is one of the best times to visit this museum as you capture the magic of Christmas in the special exhibits and experience the rich artistic heritage of the Brandywine Valley. Now we're off to Longwood Gardens with free time to explore on our own. The pageantry of Christmas unfolds both in the conservatories and outdoors as you take in the magnificent displays of holiday flowers and the 400,000 Christmas lights. You will have the opportunity for dinner on your own while enjoying Longwood Gardens.
